Energy Efficiency in the Capitol Hill Spotlight

Architecture 2030 presented The 2030 Challenge Stimulus Plan-A Stimulus Package for All Americans to the Hill last week where support for the plan is building.  This plan relies heavily on investments in energy efficiency in both the residential and commercial sectors.  The plan comes with a heavty price tag, but one that would be paid back through the savings generated - as well as the tax revenue from jobs created.  Take a peak and see what you think.

Using the 'swiss cheese' approach to save ink.

There are many things you can do at home and at work to save paper and energy when it comes to your computer, but here is a new idea about ink.  This concept reminded me that we all need to rethink even the smallest actions, including font selection. 

Ecofont is a new font for your computer that (supposedly) can save you 20% on your ink usage.  It does this by putting round holes in the letters and numbers. Essentially, it 'swiss cheeses' your font.  Take a look at the website and consider installing this new font to save ink.  The font is free to download and use, so why not give it a try.  If you do, we would love to hear your thoughts.

Not to sound like captain obvious here, but as always, the most efficient printer in the world will never be as efficients as simply not printing.
