Yup, you heard it right...a dashboard for a building. Think about the dashboard of a car and all the information it provides - speed, fuel level, power, miles traveled, and any indication of problems with the vehicle engine. Now take that times 10...and boom...a building dashboard!
What some of us may not realize is that our homes - and buildings in general - pollute more than our cars and vehicles. If we need all those elements on a vehicle dashboard to manage our driving, we certainly need the same, if not even more, information to manage our homes and buildings. Imagine knowing, in real time, how much energy your office or residence is using...while you're in it! Having that information at that moment is incredibly powerful. Talk about behavior change!!!
And there are folks out there doing just that. The University of Richmond is using, in my opinion, an amazing buidling dashboard utility. Not only can users see how much, or little, energy is being used/consumed, users can see the information in a variety of metrics. Having the variety of metrics allows more people to understand and process the information in a way that is most meaningful to them. Of course, all the history is there too, and not just on one building, the entire campus! I urge you to check this out for yourself...let us know what you think.
our company will be having our team building activity next week and I am in-charge of choosing appropriate team building activities and this is definitely one of the activities I will include in our program.
The A-Frame team building activity looks very challenging. The team will really have to learn to work as a team in a synchronize and steady pattern to succeed in this game. The activity reflects cooperation issues in the workplace and when the team can manage to set aside their differences and work towards a common goal, then the A-frame team building activity is a success.
